Hello!
My name is Georgina Black. I have been involved and interested in crafts, jewellery, & fashion for over 20 years. I found my true love – Lampworking – in 2002. At the time I lived in Vancouver, Canada, and when I wasn’t working as an operating room nurse, I spent as much time as I could working at Andrighetti Glassworks. In 2005, I moved to Bristol, UK and eventually got lonely all by myself in my studio, and joined an amazing artist co-operative and gallery called Blaze. In 2008 I decided to leave nursing and opened my own group teaching studio and gallery called Fire Works!
I have had the pleasure of attending classes and workshops by some of Canada’s and the UK’s top makers in a variety of mediums including all kinds of glasswork, silversmithing, PMC, resin, enamel, ceramics, screen printing and textile work. I even have a diploma in Fashion Design from the UCFV in Canada! I think it is safe to say that I am a bit of a course junkie. I love learning new things, but I still love lampworking best.
Life changes, and in April 2011 I chose to sell my beautiful Bristol shop and studio for a move to London where I now have a private studio I work out of. I can also be found roaming the UK demonstrating for Troll Beads at their special events and trade shows.
